New Zealand Road Memories 1920s – 1960s For more than eight decades New Zealand has been a nation on wheels. As early as 1921 New Zealand had the second highest per capita ownership of cars in the world, after the USA. A large variety of vehicles have appeared on the country’s roads. Up to the beginning of World War II, most came from North America; but for the two decades after World War II most came from England. This DVD looks at the cars, trucks and buses that have been used in New Zealand from the 1920s through to the mid-1960s as recorded on newsreels and publicity films of the era.
