Easter 2002 marked a milestone in the history of the Railway Enthusiasts' Society and the Glenbrook Vintage Railway. To celebrate the Silver Jubilee, the Glenbrook Vintage Railway staged the 'Festival of Steam', the biggest live salute to steam in the Auckland area. Thursday the 28th of March was set aside for the rail fans who had travelled from around the country to capture eight replica NZR goods and mixed trains including a J-class triple-header. With Easter Weekend opened to the public, the celebrations continued with the 'Grand Cavalcade' of locomotives and a variety of mixed and passenger
trains that carried in excess of 8000 passengers over the weekend. Also featured are traction engines, steam boats, steam cars, Clydesdale horses and a vintage tractor ploughing and Tiger Moth aircraft.
