In this episode we actually join the ships at sea and sail with them on their voyages.

We encounter fierce storms in the Atlantic and the Bay of Biscay as some of the ships head on an easterly course via Suez and others westerly via Panama.

On the easterly route we stop at such places as Aden, Hong Kong, Freemantly and Sydney, and on the westerly route, Curacao, Tahiti and Pitcairn Islands.

It is a wonderful opportunity to experience just how life used to be at sea, both above and below decks.

Finally at the close of the programme, the ships once again encounter severe weather as they batlle through the Australian Byte, Tasman Sea and then approaches the Cook Strait.
